Tour of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU)
Since 1909, the Indiana Memorial Union (fondly referred to as “the Union”) has served as a gathering place for the IU community and is considered the heart of Indiana University. No matter who you are or why you are on the IU Bloomington campus, you’ll find something you want in the Union’s bustling hub of activity. With just one visit to the Union, you’ll find that it truly lives up to its vision statement: “The Indiana Memorial Union will be known as the vibrant campus center where members of the university community feel connected, engaged, and safe.” The IMU is the best place to have fun on campus! This exclusive FratCastles tour of the Union is brought to you by the Union Board, which is the largest Student Programming Body on Campus. The Union Board Serves as both the governing body of the Indiana Memorial Union and as the largest student programming organization on campus, focusing on serving a diverse range of events and activities around which students may come together, explore multiple world views, historic and current events, and learn from one another. They plan concerts, lectures, debates, live music, musicals, the campus arts magazine, and more. The Union Board's mission of the 104th Indiana Memorial Union Board of Directors is to unify and represent the students and greater community of Indiana University through diverse, high-quality programming. They strive to improve students' academic and personal experiences with thought-provoking, educational, and entertaining programs. In addiction, they are dedicated to promoting the Indiana Memorial Union as the center of campus life and serving students as stewards of the Union. As a Board, the Union Board is committed to enhancing the IU community by fostering student involvment and personal growth while upholding the spirit and tradtions of Indiana University.
OFFBEAT dance team was founded in 2007 as Indiana University’s only hip-hop dance team within the Greek Community. The team consists of various chapters on campus and was founded to bring active Greek members together. OFFBEAT has always focused on balancing the involvement of its team members with schoolwork and their Greek organizations. OFFBEAT maintains its goal in providing recreational fun, a great workout, and a dynamic team structure. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester and practices take place twice a week. Full team participation in choreography is encouraged. Performances take place four to five times a semester. Recent performances were at the Indiana University Dance Marathon, several sorority and fraternity philanthropies, and opening acts for concerts such as Snoop Dogg, Sam Adams, Wiz Khalifa, and more!
