About Our Philanthropy
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of their alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of their members.
Last Year's Philanthropy
The sisters of the Theta Beta Chapter raised money for the Make-A-Wish foundation annually by hosting A Taste of IU. They invited some of Indiana University students' favorite restaurants to join them in passing out samples of their classic foods. Guests enjoyed anything from pizza to tacos from restaurants like Dunn Inn to Pizza Express. The event was such a success and they even had to add some of Bonnie's classics, mac n' cheese and Chi O burgers, a Chi Omega favorite of course. At the event they entertained music and dance acts, as well as a fraternity pie-eating contest. With the help of all the women of the chapter setting up, entertaining, cooking food, and tearing down they were able to raise over $12,000.
Carissa, their Make-A-Wish child, was granted her wish of going to Hawaii with her family. Carissa and her family could not have looked happier at the event. The Chi-Os made them feel at home and welcome. At the end of the event, Carissa even presented them with a hand painted coconut from Hawaii which is on display in the house and will be treasured forever.
Goals of This Year
They can only hope for a bigger and better event next year to make another wish, or maybe two, come true.
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities.
Contributions and Donations
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is able to share the power of a wish thanks to the support of generous individual donors. They welcome all levels of donation, whether it's a one-time gift, a monthly donation or the establishment of a matching gifts program.
