About Our Philanthropy

The Sigma Upsilon chapter at Indiana University supports all the wonderful philanthropies of their national organization. To better the Bloomington community, the Sigma Upsilon chapter works closely with many area Girl Scout troops and holds an annual Shamrock event to raise money benefiting Prevent Child Abuse America, Prevent Child Abuse Indianapolis, and the Middle Way House, a women’s shelter in Bloomington, Indiana. Sigma Upsilon has also taken a special interest in promoting the Confidence Coalition across IU's campus, as it is a chapter-wide philosophy that all women should be reminded how wonderful they truly are!

Last Year's Philanthropy

Girl Scouts provides Kappa Delta members opportunities for hands-on volunteering. Each year, Kappa Deltas devote over 175,000 hours to working with Girl Scouts in their communities. Popular KD Girl Scout events are self-esteem workshops, campus tours, International Girls Day celebrations and anti-bullying workshops. Girl Scouts who participate in Kappa Delta events can earn special patches including the Kappa Delta/Girl Scout patch and the International Girls Day patch.

The Organization

Since 1972, Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) has led the way in building awareness, providing education and inspiring hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children. Working with other chapters, they provide leadership to promote and implement prevention efforts at both the national and local levels. With the help of their state chapters and concerned individuals like you, they're valuing children, strengthening families and engaging communities nationwide.
