About Our Philanthropy

As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support sisters, in order to build them up. Second, they participate in local service projects. Third, Kappas aim to serve the greater good. They are involved in a number of philanthropies, both at the national and local level.

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), their official philanthropic partner, has been supported through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to local Bloomington elementary schools and child care centers such as Fairview Elementary and the YMCA. Kappa Kappa Gamma has also been dedicated to IUDM for over 20 years. Kappa has frequently earned the title of the top fundraising sorority, donating over $65,000 to Riley Hospital for Children in 2009.

Last Year's Philanthropy

Last year, Kappa Kappa Gamma hosted the first annual Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament. It went exceptionally well, and over $2,000 was raised for Reading is Fundamental. The Delta Chapter has remained involved with IU Dance Marathon and have continued to be the Top Sorority Fundraiser. All of their sophomores danced this past year, and they have continued to stay involved in the organization.

The Organization

GIRLS Academy is the first of its kind, and is a program designed to help middle school girls with leadership and self esteem. Kappas are also individually involved with tutoring younger kids, participating in Big Brothers/Big Sisters and going on various mission trips yearly, in addition to house-arranged philanthropies.

Contributions and Donations

A donation to RIF makes a powerful statement to the world that you believe in empowering children and communities with books; that you want to help the country’s most vulnerable children by introducing them to new places and people through books; and that you want to help parents, teachers, and volunteers transform children into readers and book lovers.
