The mission of Theta Phi Alpha is to create close comradeship, to advance educational, social and philanthropic interests and leadership training; to encourage spiritual development and adherence to the highest moral standards; and to promote lifelong bonds of friendship. Theta Phi Alpha returned to IU just one year ago, having previously been absent since the '50s. The IU community has welcomed Theta Phi Alpha with open arms.
Theta Phi Alpha encompasses far more than providing a social network for college women. For more than 90 years, the sisters of Theta Phi Alpha have maintained a history rich in educational excellence, professional achievement, and a deep commitment to social service.
The newly re-formed Zeta chapter takes pride in their sisterhood. Without it, they would be like any other student organization, with it they remain united as one. Describing the bonds that they have created through sisterhood is unexplainable. It's something you have to experience for yourself in order to understand it. Many young women come to Theta Phi in search of new friends, but many leave with more than that. Their sisterhood provides a sense of belonging, a shoulder to lean on, and unforgetable memories. It is the sisterhood of their chapter that allows them to develop into the strong organization that they are today, full of young indepedent women linked together by one bond.
